Orange Trees and Busy Bees- Keeping on Track With Your Goals During Coronavirus/COVID19

Orange Blossom

Many of us have been facing the realities of how Coronavirus/COVID-19 is rapidly impacting our lives and how it might continue to do so over the next several months. Some of the immediate issues that my clients have mentioned to me include stress, anxiety/fear, sleep issues, and lack of motivation.  I’ve noticed on social media people mentioning emotional eating and drinking during this time of uncertainty.  I’ve been concerned about some of my clientele and their stress related illness, and one client mentioned that her husband has already caught her grinding her teeth during the night.  One of my colleagues shared with me that she has received inquiries for help with relationship issues, as her prospective client’s anxiety stemmed from being required to work from home with no escape from his wife and children. Perhaps you’re dealing with one of these issues…. or now that I’ve mentioned these examples, you’re becoming more aware of how it is impacting your own life.

Bee Hive

After speaking with a client earlier this week who mentioned feeling a lack of motivation to put energy into her life goals, I came up with some metaphors that I decided to share- I’m calling it “Orange Trees and Busy Bees,” as it is time here in Southern California for the bees to get busy pollinating our citrus trees.  While this recording mentions maintaining motivation to put energy into goals, it also acknowledges that we might need extra rest and a break during this time.  I thought about that because we recently had some springtime rains, which meant that the bees spent more time back in their hives than they would when the sun is shining.

This recording is a reminder that regardless of what is happening in our world, spring will come. We can look to nature for signs of renewal and rebirth.  As you listen to it, think about your own personal and professional goals (whatever they are) and how you would like to continue working on them throughout the coming year.

Brenda, thank you, I needed this. I am cooped up in an apartment in San Francisco and today we began 3 weeks of self-isolating, which is needed. But it is spring, I feel it, but can’t have it this year. Your recording took me to where I have been yearning to go and experience. It really helped me.
